Associate Professor Sean Fair
A/Professor Fair graduated with a PhD from University College Dublin in 2006. He took up a position as Lecturer in Physiology in National University of Ireland, Galway in 2007 and in 2009 joined the academic staff in the University of Limerick where he is now Associate Professor in Animal Physiology. He is interested in all aspects of assisted reproduction, however, his research group is principally focused on sperm interaction with the female reproductive tract and its secretions. Specifically, he has ongoing funded research projects ranging from the biological mechanisms regulating sperm transit across the cervix of sheep, the prediction of bull fertility using functional and molecular biomarkers as well as the development of novel biomimicry technology for human sperm cell selection.
Early Career Researcher Spotlight
Dr Carmen Almiñana
Carmen has a DVM and is currently a researcher in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zurich. She has worked across a number of areas of applied reproduction, including sperm sex sorting, cryobiology, IVM and IVEP. More recently, her worked has focused on cross-talk between gametes and the female reproductive tract, partiuclarly via extracellular vesicles.
